Class of 2010: Sandgren joins Vols!

Tennys Sandgren:

Tennys, the #1 recruit in the nation, will be playing for Tennessee! He was a three-time Boys 18 champion in national events, the Texas ITF singles champion in 2008, and ranked No. 1 in Boys 16 singles in 2006 and 2007. He was coached by his parents, David and Lia Sandgren. Well done and congratulations!




Class of 2009: First three Lady Royals to earn scholarships!

Chelsea Hunt:

We're honored to have Chelsea be our first female student athlete to earn a college sports scholarship. She will be playing tennis at Harding University, where she will be joining the Lady Bisons. Ranked #3 in the State of Tennessee, she won the Tennessee Open Junior Championship and the Louisville Tennis Center Clay Court State Championship. She is the daughter of Larry and Cindy Hunt. Congratulations!





Amanda Rhein:

We're honored to announce our second Lady Royal earning a spot in collegiate athletics. Amanda, a three-time MVP recipient and ten-time all-tournament selection, will be joining the ladies at Lipscomb University. She leaves a high bar in individual records, and her character and leadership will be sorely missed. She is the daughter and stepdaughter of Carol and Richard Green, and the daughter of Frank Rhein Jr.. Thanks for the memories and congratulations!





Taylor Martin:

Our third honoree this year is another Lady Royal! Taylor completed her illustrious softball career by helping our girls first-year team finish with a winning record. Her excellent pitching overpowered her opposition by striking out almost half of all the batters she faced all season. Her batting percentage was over .400 and hit our only grand-slam of the year. She will be a big part of the pitching rotation at Columbia State. Taylor is the daughter of Terry and Yvette Martin. Congratulations!





Caleb Maxwell:

Caleb becomes our first athlete to earn a basketball scholarship! He finishes his senior season as our first 1000-plus career-points player. He has been honored with All-Tournament, All-Star, and MVP recognition, and will be taking his game to the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville University in Ohio. Caleb is the son of Terry and Cindy Maxwell. Thanks for all the great memories. Go Royals!




Class of 2007: All-Conference Recipient at Merchant Marine Academy!

Benjamin Hovies:

Benjamin, a team captain, earned All-Conference honors from the National Christian Sports Conference. He finished his senior season as the team's leading rusher and earned the school's Christian Leadership Award for his example on and off the field of play. Well done and congratulations!




Class of 2006: Seven athletes to compete in the college ranks!

Davey Sandgren:

Davey is a recipient of the Bill Talbert Junior Sportsmanship Award, which goes to a junior player who best exemplifies the finest qualities of sportsmanship in tournament play. He completed a great first season leading the Volunteers with fourteen individual match victories. Well done and congratulations!





Michael Curtis:

Michael, who holds numerous Royal's football records, was a red-shirt freshman for the Campbellsville Tigers in Kentucky.





Josh Maubach:

Josh, the Royal's career scoring leader, headed-in his first collegiate goal for the Lions soccer team during his freshman year. A talented forward, he'll be working hard to earn his spurs for the upcoming season. Go Lions!





Daniel Reed:

Daniel, selected as an All-American by the National Association of Christian Athletes in Dayton TN, was a red-shirt freshman at Campbellsville University in Kentucky. He is a talented Quarterback and holds several records at Aaron Academy.





Kevin Bradley:

Kevin is another accomplished local soccer player who earned a spot in Bryan College's soccer team in his freshman season. He has already transferred to Union University, where he will continue playing soccer for the Bulldogs.





Josh Watson:

Josh, our goalkeeper and team captain last year, completed his first season for the Panthers soccer team, an NAIA school in Nebraska. Great job and congratulations!





Bryan Alfano:

Bryan also joined Josh and Kevin at Bryan College this fall, and participated in the Lion's Jr. Varsity soccer team. Well done, Bryan!
